Calumet in Volleyball Quarterfinal Tonight – Tuesday Sports Wrap

High School
The Calumet High School volleyball team will face Houghton Lake in the quarterfinals of the Class C State Tournament tonight. The Copper Kings advanced by defeating West Iron County 3-0 in the regional title match last week.  The Bobcats won a very close 3-1 decision over Elk Rapids to take their region. The match begins at 7:00 at Munising. The winner will head downstate to Battle Creek for the semifinals on Friday.

MTU
Lindsay Winter of the Michigan Tech women’s basketball team has been named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week. Winter set new career highs with 29 points and 12 rebounds in the Huskies’ win over Davis and Elkins College Saturday.

NHL
The Detroit Red Wings return to action tomorrow, when they host the Calgary Flames. Pregame coverage will begin at 7:10 on 99.3 The Lift. Justin Abdelkader will skate in tomorrow’s game. He’ll wear a face mask to protect the cheekbone he broke in a fight during a game last week.

NBA
The Detroit Pistons visit the Milwaukee Bucks tomorrow night. The Pistons have won five straight. Tobias Harris has been named the NBA Eastern Conference Player of the Week.

NFL
In last night’s NFL game, the Carolina Panthers pounded the Miami Dolphins 45-21. If you played The Wolf Pro Football Challenge, you must have picked 12 games correctly to be eligible to become our weekly winner.

Green Bay Packers running back Aaron Jones suffered a sprained MCL during Sunday’s win over the Chicago Bears. He’s expected to be out for about a month.

Our Finlandia University basketball coverage begins Saturday, when the Lions men’s team hosts Millikin University. The pregame show will start at 12:40 on 99.3 The Lift, and 993TheLift.com.

Our high school hockey coverage begins a week from tonight, when Jeffers entertains L’Anse. The pregame show will start around 6:40 in KBear 102.3 and KBear102.com.
