CCHA Semifinals Set – Monday Sports Wrap

High School

In girls regional semifinal basketball games tonight…
• In Division Four, Lake Linden-Hubbell will take on Ewen-Trout Creek at 7:00 at Houghton High School. Ishpeming and Carney-Nadeau will play in the other regional semifinal at 6:00 at Kingsford High School.
• In Division Three, West Iron County will face Harbor Springs at 6:00 at Escanaba High School. Elk Rapids and Roscommon will meet in the other regional semifinal.
• In Division Two, Negaunee will play Petoskey at 7:00 at Manistique High School. Ludington and Clare will play in the other semifinal.

College Hockey

The CCHA semifinal pairings and locations are set, following Lake Superior State’s 3-2 win over St. Thomas last night. The Lakers scored the winning goal with six seconds remaining in regulation.

The single-game semifinals will be played Saturday.
• Third seed Michigan Tech will host fourth-seed Minnesota State at 5:07.
• Seventh-seed Lake Superior State will play at top-seed Bemidji State.

College Basketball

The Northern Michigan University women’s basketball team lost to Grand Valley State 67-48 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference tournament championship game yesterday. Ana Rhude led the Wildcats with 13 points.

Both NMU teams will continue their seasons in the NCAA Division Two tournament.
• The women are seeded fourth in the Midwest Region, and will face Kentucky Wesleyan Friday at 7:30. The top-seeded Lakers will face Trevecca Nazarene in their opener, and third-seed Ferris State will take on Lewis. All the game will be played at Grand Valley in Allendale.
• The men are seeded fourth, and will meet fifth seed Ferris State Friday at 7:30. Sixth seed Lake Superior State will face Walsh. The men’s tournament will be hosted by the University of Indianapolis.

NHL

The Red Wings visit the Sabres tomorrow. Coverage will begin at 6:45 on 99.3 The Lift.

NBA

The Pistons host the Hornets tonight, with coverage at 6:35 on 99.3 The Lift.

MLB

The Tigers shaded the Mets 3-2 in Grapefruit League play yesterday. Brant Hurder gave up a run on two hits over three innings.

The Tigers will play the Astros today. Reese Olson will start.

The Brewers fell to the Rockies 3-1 in Cactus League action yesterday. Jakob Junis tossed four no-hit innings.

The Brewers have today off, and face the Cubs tomorrow.

Milwaukee closer Devin Williams will see a specialist to evaluate his aching back. He’s been dealing with that all spring.
