High School

The boys regular basketball season concluded last night…
• Houghton fell to Westwood 60-46.
• Calumet defeated Hancock 57-38.
• Lake Linden-Hubbell defeated Chassell 92-65.
• Jeffers outscored Dollar Bay-Tamarack City 88-46. Asthon Kunishige had 31 points for the Jets, and Damien Heikkinen added 21. Liam Tourtillot led the Blue Bolts with 18. The Jets finish the regular season with a record of 21-1, with just a four-point overtime loss to Escanaba.
• L’Anse lost to Ishpeming 82-45.
• Ontonagon fell to Bessemer 60-52.
• Ewen-Trout Creek v Menominee – no report.

In girls district championship games tonight…
• In Division Two, Kingsley will face Boyne City at Kalkaska. The winner will face Houghton in the regional semifinal Tuesday at Manistique.
• In Division Three, Negaunee plays at Hancock at 6:00.
• In Division Four, District 98, Lake Linden-Hubbell plays at Baraga at 6:00.
• In Division Four, District 97, Ironwood faces Ewen-Trout Creek at Bessemer at 5:00 Central Time.

College Hockey

The Central Collegiate Hockey Association tournament best-of-three quarterfinal series begin tonight…
• Second-seed Michigan Tech hosts seventh-seed St. Thomas at 7:07.
• Fourth-seed Northern Michigan hosts fifth-seed Bemidji State.
• Top-seed Minnesota State entertains eighth-seed Lake Superior State.
• Third-seed Bowling Green welcomes sixth-seed Ferris State.

College Basketball

Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Association basketball tournament semifinals will be played tomorrow.

The women’s competition takes place at Grand Valley State in Allendale.
• Top-seed Grand Valley will face fifth-seed Saginaw Valley State at 2:00.
• Second-seed Michigan Tech will play sixth-seed Ferris State at 4:30.

The men’s competition will take place at Ferris State in Big Rapids.
• Second-seed Ferris will meet third-seed Northern Michigan at 3:00.
• Fifth-seed Grand Valley will play eighth-seed Michigan Tech at 5:30.

GLHL

The Calumet Wolverines face the Marquette Mutineers in a home and home series this weekend – tonight in Marquette, and tomorrow at 7:30 at the Colosseum.

The Portage Lake Pioneers visit the Eagle River Falcons tomorrow.

Finlandia University

With the upcoming closure of Finlandia University, both the softball and baseball seasons scheduled for this spring have been canceled.

Adult Hockey

The L’Anse Winter Classic Hockey Tournament will be played tomorrow and Sunday at Meadowbrook Arena. Weekend spectator passes are $5.00 for adults, and $3 for kids ages 6 through 17. Veterans are admitted free. See the schedule here. Money raised will support maintenance and operations of the Meadowbrook and Baraga Ice Rinks.

NHL

The Red Wings fell to the Kraken 5-4 in overtime last night. 

The Wings visit the Islanders tomorrow afternoon. Coverage will begin at 12:15 on 99.3 The Lift.

Detroit has traded forward Tyler Bertuzzi to the Bruins. In exchange, the Wings get Boston’s first-round pick in the 2024 draft, and a 2025 fourth-rounder.

NBA

The Pistons visit the Cavaliers tomorrow evening. Coverage will begin at 7:05 on 99.3 The Lift.

MLB

The Tigers pounded the Orioles 10-3 in Grapefruit League play yesterday. Tyler Levin, Andre Lipcius and Parker Meadows homered. Starter Matthew Boyd gave up a solo home run over two innings.

The Tigers split their squad for games against the Phillies and the Yankees this afternoon.

The Brewers lost to the Rangers 7-4 yesterday.

The Brewers will play the Guardians this afternoon.
