Culy, Armga Honored – Friday Sports Wrap

MLB: Scherzer, Tigers Blank Chisox
Max Scherzer picked the perfect time to throw his first complete game in the major leagues, as the Tigers shut out the White Sox 4-0 last night. Scherzer allowed just three hits, and struck out eight. Chicago starter Chris Sale was almost as good. He struck out 10 over seven innings… but gave up a solo homer to Victor Martinez in the fifth inning. The Tigers scored three insurance runs against the Sox’ bullpen in the final two innings.

The Tigers return home to face the Twins tonight. Drew Smyly will face Kyle Gibson. Hear the first pitch at 7:08 on AM 1400, WCCY.

Brewers Outlast Mets
The Brewers scored four runs in the 13th inning, and beat the Mets 5-1. Kyle Lohse pitched eight strong innings… giving up just four hits and one unearned run. Milwaukee finally broke through when Jonathan Lucroy hit a two-run homer in the top of the 13th. The Brewers then loaded the bases. Mark Reynolds singled home a run, and Rickie Weeks forced one in when he was hit by a pitch.

The Brewers open a home set against the Reds this evening. Matt Garza will start against Homer Bailey.

Packers Complete Draft Signings
The Green Bay Packers have now agreed to terms with all of their picks from this year’s amateur draft. The signings of second-round pick Davante Adams and third-round choice Richard Rodgers were announced yesterday.
