‘Dogs, Kings, Lakes, Glads Prep for Playoffs – Monday Sports Wrap

High School
Four area teams have qualified for the state high school football playoffs. Lake Linden-Hubbell will face WestPAC champion West Iron County in the Division Eight District semifinals. That game will be played Friday at 7:00 Eastern Time in Iron River. In Division Six, Calumet will play at Traverse City St Francis. Hancock will open the Division Five playoffs at Menominee. Ontonagon will open play in Division One of the eight-man playoffs at Stephenson. Dates for those games, and our broadcast schedule, will be released later today.

In hockey, Team Copper Country took the championship at the Split Season League Playoffs at Jackson over the weekend… defeating Lansing 8-0 on Friday, Marquette 7-0 on Saturday, and Lansing again yesterday 9-3. That qualifies Team CC for the state playoffs next spring, and a chance to defend their national title.

In high school volleyball tonight, L’Anse plays at Baraga.

MTU
The Michigan Tech soccer team lost 1-0 to Ferris State yesterday.

NHL
The Detroit Red Wings lost 4-1 to the Vancouver Canucks last night. Anthony Mantha scored Detroit’s only goal. Jimmy Howard stopped 33 shots, and took the loss. The Wings will skate at Buffalo tomorrow night. Pregame will begin at 7:10 on 99.3 The Lift.

NBA
The Detroit Pistons host the Philadelphia 76ers tonight.

NFL
The Green Bay Packers couldn’t hold a halftime lead, and lost to the New Orleans Saints 26-17 yesterday. In his first NFL start, Brett Hundley completed just 12 of 25 passes for 87 yards, with one interception.

In last night’s contest, the Patriots shut down the Falcons 23-7. Washington plays at Philadelphia in tonight’s game. Hear the broadcast on 99.3 The Lift.
