Finlandia

Finlandia University has introduced two more athletic recruits.

Nathan Walerowicz will join the men’s hockey team as a defenseman. He’s from Sanborn, New York, and played most recently for the New York Apple Core of the Eastern Hockey League.

Miguel Gonzales from Middleton, Wisconsin will be an infielder on the baseball team.

Baseball

Two former Detroit Tigers got off to good starts as the Korean baseball season began. In games played early yesterday morning our time, shortstop Dixon Machado’s three-run homer led his Lotte Giants to a 7-2 win over the KT Wiz. Warwick Saupold threw a complete-game two-hitter as the Hanwha Eagles blanked the SK Wyverns 3-0. South Korean games are being played in empty stadiums.
