MLB – Tigers Bombed, Brewers Hire GM?
Kendrys Morales slammed three home runs and a triple, as the Kansas City Royals pounded the Detroit Tigers 10-3 yesterday. Alfredo Simon was charged with eight of those runs. He gave up 13 hits before leaving in the fifth inning. Game details are here.

The Tigers host the Chicago White Sox in a day-night doubleheader today. The afternoon game is a makeup of a rainout in June. Kyle Ryan will start against Jeff Samardzija. In the evening game, Randy Wolf will start against Erik Johnson. Hear both games on AM 1400 and FM 99.3, WCCY.

The Milwaukee Brewers snapped their eight-game losing streak with an 8-4 victory over the Cincinnati Reds. Milwaukee broke the game open with five runs in the fifth inning, including two on a throwing error by Cincinnati pitcher Anthony DeSclafani. Game details are here.

The Brewers open a set against the Cubs in Chicago this evening. Wily Peralta will pitch against Jason Hammel.

Several media outlets are reporting that the Milwaukee Brewers have hired David Stearns as their new general manager. Stearns has been the assistant GM for the Astros for the past three seasons. He is 30 years old.

At the CSDHL Showcase in Chicago yesterday, Rory Anderson and Danny Hill each scored twice as the Team Copper Country U18 hockey squad defeated the Chicago Cyclones 5-4 yesterday morning.

Alex Freeman scored three goals, as the Finlandia men’s soccer team beat Robert Morris-Lake County 6-1 yesterday afternoon. Chris Johnson scored twice for the Lions, who improved to 4-1 on the season. Details are here.

Aaron Rodgers threw two touchdown passes, as the Green Bay Packers defeated the Seattle Seahawks 27-17 last night. Mason Crosby kicked four field goals, and set a new Green Bay career points record. Details are here. Running back Eddie Lacy left the game in the first quarter with an ankle injury. Team officials say an x-ray was negative, but it’s not known how long he might be out.

The Detroit Lions lost to the Minnesota Vikings 26-16. Adrian Peterson rolled up 192 total yards, while the Vikings’ defense held the Lions to just 38 yards rushing. Detroit quarterback Matthew Stafford was hit so many times he underwent a chest x-ray after the game. His status for next week is unknown. Details are here.
