The Finlandia University baseball team took two of their three games against Northland College yesterday. Finlandia led 1-0 in the fifth inning when the teams were ordered to evacuate. Yesterday, the Lumberjacks came back to win that contest 3-2 in eight innings. Finlandia then won both of the scheduled games, 8-6 and 13-9.  Joey Krug homered in the second game, and had three hits and three RBI in the third contest.

MLB
The Detroit Tigers fell to the Baltimore Orioles 5-3 yesterday. Detroit starter Daniel Norris gave up a run in the first inning, and two in the second. He left the game in the third inning with tightness in his groin. Alex Wilson provided nearly three innings of scoreless relief, before the O’s scored single runs off Buck Farmer and Joe Jiménez in the sixth and eighth innings. Detroit got one run back in the fifth on a John Hicks home run, and added two in the seventh on RBI doubles by Jeimer Candelario and Niko Goodrum.

The Tigers open a home series against the Tampa Bay Rays tonight. Jordan Zimmermann will pitch against Jake Faria. Pregame coverage will begin at 6:45 on 99.3 The Lift.

Detroit first baseman Miguel Cabrera also left yesterday’s game after experiencing a muscle spasm in a bicep. He was treated at the stadium, and said he was feeling better after the game.

The Chicago Cubs completed a four-game sweep of the Milwaukee Brewers with a 2-0 victory yesterday. Zach Davies took the tough loss, giving up both Chicago runs, while pitching into the sixth inning. In those four contests, the Brewers were shut out three times.

The Brewers begin a set at Cincinnati tonight. Jhoulys Chacin will pitch against Brandon Finnegan.

Wade Miley is expected to come off the disabled list to start Wednesday’s game for the Brewers. He’ll replace Brent Suter in the rotation, and Suter will be moved to the bullpen.
