High School
In high school hockey last night…
– Kingsford at Houghton – no report, likely postponed TBA
– Marquette at Calumet – postponed, TBA.

In girls high school basketball last night…
– The L’Anse at Houghton game was postponed to December 19th.
– The Hancock at Bessemer contest was postponed to December 18th
– The Calumet at Jeffers game was postponed to Saturday, December 16th. The JV contest will tip off at 1:00, and the varsity at 2:30.
– The Ewen-Trout Creek at Chassell game was postponed to January 9th.
– Watersmeet at Lake Linden-Hubbell – postponed TBA
– Baraga at Dollar Bay-Tamarack City – postponed TBA

Finlandia
The Finlandia University women’s basketball team dropped a 97-68 decision at Webster University last night. The Gorlocks grabbed an early lead, then dominated the second and third quarters. Julia Daavettila led the Lions with 22 points and 10 rebounds. Julia Nordstrom had 13 points, and Kelsie Richards had eight points, 11 rebounds and blocked four shots.

The Lions men’s team also fell behind early, and lost 104-60 at eighth-ranked Wisconsin-Oshkosh last night.  Austin Carlson, Myles Ellington and Ricky Watson each scored 10 points.

NHL
The Detroit Red Wings ended their seven-game losing streak with a 5-1 victory over the Winnipeg Jets last night. Gustav Nyquist had two goals and an assist. Justin Abdelkader, Darren Helm and David Booth also scored. Jimmy Howard stopped 25 shots. The Wings are off until Saturday afternoon, when they entertain the St. Louis Blues. Pregame coverage will begin at 12:40 on 99.3 The Lift.

NBA
The Detroit Pistons visit the Bucks in Milwaukee tonight. Tip-off is at 8:00 on 99.3 The Lift.

MLB
The Detroit Tigers have signed outfielder Leonys Martín to a one-year deal worth 1.75-million dollars. Martín played a few games for the Mariners and the Cubs last season, but spent most of his time with Seattle’s Triple-A Team at Tacoma, where he hit .306. He bats left-handed, and will compete for the center field job.

The Tigers also announced the signing of four players to minor-league deals yesterday. They include outfielder Jim Adduci, who split time between the Tigers and the Toledo Mud Hens last season.
