High School

On the high school softball schedule this afternoon…
• Lake Linden-Hubbell plays at Houghton.
• Hancock travels to Gwinn

In the final day of play at the boys National Invitational Hockey Tournament yesterday…
• The Michigan Juniors fell to Colorado 3-2. Calumet’s Tom Erkilla and Jackson Rilei played on that team, but neither figured in the scoring. The Juniors finished the tournament with a record of 1-3.
• The Michigan Seniors defeated the Wisconsin Juniors 7-3. Calumet’s Dean Loukus scored twice, and Hancock’s Austin Salani had a goal and an assist. The Seniors concluded the tournament with a record of 2-2.

North Dakota won the NIT title.

College Softball

The Finlandia University softball team closed its regular season with a doubleheader split at Bay College yesterday. The Lions dropped the first contest 19-2, then won the nightcap 10-5.

College Baseball

The Finlandia baseball team lost at Wisconsin-Oshkosh 9-3 yesterday. Gideon Scott had two hits and scored twice.

College Soccer

Michigan Tech has been seeded fifth in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women’s soccer tournament. The Huskies will face fourth-seed Grand Valley State tomorrow afternoon at 4:00 at Allendale.

NHL

The Detroit Red Wings visit the Columbus Blue Jackets tomorrow.

NBA

The Detroit Pistons host the Atlanta Hawks tonight. Coverage will begin at 6:35 on 99.3 The Lift.

MLB

The Detroit Tigers’ struggles continued yesterday with a 4-0 loss to the Kansas City Royals. Detroit batters collected just five hits and struck out 13 times. Michael Fulmer pitched the first three innings, and allowed just one hit. Tarik Skubal relieved him, gave up all four Kansas City runs, and took the loss.

The Tigers have lost nine of their last 10 games, and host the Royals again this afternoon. Spencer Turnbull will pitch against Brad Keller. Coverage will begin at 12:50 on 99.3 The Lift.

Brandon Woodruff outdueled Jake Arrieta, as the Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Chicago Cubs 6-0 yesterday. Each starter went six innings. Woodruff allowed two hits and no runs. Arrieta gave up two hits and one run. Milwaukee broke the game open with five runs in the top of the ninth inning.

The Brewers entertain the Miami Marlins tonight. Corbin Burnes will start against Trevor Rogers.

An MRI has revealed no structural damage in Milwaukee outfielder Christian Yelich’s back. Yelich has been out for two weeks. There’s still no indication as to when he might return.
