Finlandia
The Finlandia University women’s basketball team dropped a 62-56 decision at Calvin College in Grand Rapids last evening.  Taylor Pertile led the Lions with 16 points. Harlee Froberg added 10.

Finlandia men’s hockey goaltender Marcus Gloss has been named Defensive Player of the Week by the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association. The former Houghton High School standout made 40 saves as the Lions upset fifth-ranked Wisconsin-Eau Claire 1-0 on Saturday.

The Michigan Tech men’s and women’s basketball teams open their Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference schedules tonight at Saginaw Valley State.

The Northern Michigan University basketball teams play at Northwood this evening.

NHL
Tyler Bertuzzi’s second goal of the game lifted the Detroit Red Wings to a 4-3 victory over the Saint Louis Blues last night. Detroit had build a 3-0 lead, thanks to second-period goals from Thomas Vanek, Andreas Athansiou and Bertuzzi. The Blues then scored three straight against Jimmy Howard to tie the contest. Howard finished with 33 saves. The Wings skate at Boston Saturday evening. Pregame coverage begins at 6:40 on 99.3 The Lift.

The Detroit Pistons welcome the Chicago Bulls tomorrow evening. Pregame coverage begins at 6:35 on 99.3 The Lift.

The Milwaukee Brewers have signed a one-year deal with catcher Erik Kratz. The Brewers obtained the 17-year veteran from the New York Yankees’ Triple-A team midway through last season, and he became a significant contributor as The Crew won the National League Central Division title.
