FinnU Women’s Soccer Wins Again, Men Fall – Thursday Sports Wrap

High School

In high school volleyball last night… Jeffers swept Dollar Bay 3-0 (25-12, 25-18, 25-12). Lilly Turner led the Jets with six kills, and Marissa Nordstrom had five. 

In volleyball this evening…
– Calumet welcomes L’Anse.
– Hancock plays at Houghton.
– Chassell entertains Ontonagon.

In cross country, weather permitting, local teams will compete at the Houghton Invitational on the Tech Trails.

Finlandia

The Finlandia University women’s soccer team edged Northland College 1-0 yesterday. Addie Budzinski’s goal off a Kirsten L’Esperance pass late in the game gave the Lions the win.

The Lions men’s soccer team lost 7-0 at Bluffton University yesterday.

MLB

The Tampa Bay Rays defeated the Oakland Athletics 5-1 in the American League Wild Card play-in game last night.

The National League Divisional series open tonight. The Atlanta Braves host the Saint Louis Cardinals, and the Washington Nationals visit the Los Angeles Dodgers.

NFL

In tonight’s NFL contest, the Los Angeles Rams visit the Seattle Seahawks. Hear the broadcast on 99.3 The Lift. Please have your picks in this week’s Pro Football Challenge turned in by noon today at one of our sponsors.

Our high school football coverage continues with three games this weekend. Tomorrow, Hancock hosts Westwood on 99.3 The Lift and TheLift.com.
