High School

In boys high school basketball tonight…
• Calumet tips off at Houghton. Coverage will begin around 7:00 on KBear 102.3.
• Ewen-Trout Creek entertains Forest Park.

On the girls schedule…
• Calumet welcomes West Iron County.
• Hancock journeys to Ewen-Trout Creek – the varsity game tips off at 4:30.

In high school swimming today…
• Houghton competes at Marquette.

This year’s Houghton Booster Bash has been called off because of COVID-19 concerns. Instead, the Houghton All Sports Boosters are holding a raffle fundraiser. The first prize will be $2,000, the second prize $1,000, the third prize will be $500, and there will be many other prizes as well. The drawing will be held May 18th. Tickets will go on sale tomorrow, and will be available at all home sporting events and from any Booster Club member, or you can message them through their Facebook Page.

College Basketball

The Finlandia women’s basketball game against Gogebic Community College last night was canceled. It will not be made up.

Both Michigan Tech teams host Northwood this evening – the women at 5:30, and the men at 7:30.

College Soccer

The Michigan Tech soccer team has unveiled its schedule for next fall. The Huskies will open on the road at Minnesota-Duluth August 25th. Games against Northern Michigan will be played in Marquette September 30th, and in Houghton October 28th – the final game of the regular season.

NHL

The Detroit Red Wings lost to the Chicago Blackhawks 8-5 last night. Alex Nedeljkovic gave up four goals before being pulled at the end of the first period. Thomas Greiss pitched a shutout as the Wings came back with three goals in the second period, but the Chicago offense regained its footing in the final stanza. Dylan Larkin’s goal with five minutes remaining closed the gap to 6-5, but two late Chicago tallies sealed Detroit’s fate.

The Wings visit the Pittsburgh Penguins tomorrow. Coverage begins at 6:45 on 99.3 The Lift.

The Detroit Pistons visit the Orlando Magic tomorrow.
