The Detroit Tigers scored four runs in the seventh inning, then held off the Tampa Bay Rays for a 5-4 victory yesterday. The game was tied at one, until James McCann and J.D. Martinez each blasted two-run homers in the seventh. The eruption made a winner of Michael Fulmer, who gave up just one run on four hits through seven innings, while striking out 11. Justin Wilson replaced Fulmer to start the eighth, and gave three runs back. Francisco Rodriguez closed the game, and earned his 12th save. Cameron Maybin also homered for Detroit.

New York got one back in the bottom of the fourth, then tied the game on Asdrubel Cabrera’s two-run homer off Zach Davies in the sixth. David Wright’s bases-loaded single off Michael Blazek in the bottom of the ninth won it for the Mets.

The Brewers conclude that series against the Mets in New York this afternoon. Chase Anderson will pitch against Noah Syndergaard.
