In high school hockey tonight…
• Calumet visits Houghton. Coverage will begin at 6:40 on the Voice of the Gremlins, 97.7 The Wolf.

In girls basketball last evening…
• Calumet edged Negaunee 54-50.
• Lake Linden-Hubbell downed Dollar Bay-Tamarack City 66-46. Emily Jokela of the Lakes led all scorers with 21 points. Cleo Milkey added 19. Ashley Datto had 17 for the Blue Bolts.
• Ewen-Trout Creek stopped Bessemer 66-27.

In boys action last night…
• Houghton broke away early, and throttled Calumet 68-27. The Gremlins led 40-8 at halftime. Kyle Primeau scored 20 for Houghton, and Isaiah Lawson and Luke Hill each added 15. Levi Kilpela led the Copper Kings with 11.
• Hancock downed Chassell 62-42.
• Baraga got past Superior Central 45-38.
• Ewen-Trout Creek outscored Bessemer 51-30.

On the boys schedule tonight…
• Houghton travels to Ontonagon.
• Dollar Bay-Tamarack City plays at Lake Linden-Hubbell.

In girls’ play…
• Hancock entertains Chassell.

The Houghton swim team welcomes Westwood this afternoon.

College Basketball

The Michigan Tech men’s team fell behind early, and lost at Kentucky Wesleyan 85-65 last evening. Brad Simonson came off the bench to lead the Huskies with 20 points.

NHL

The Red Wings fell to the Capitals 4-3 in overtime last night. David Perron, Oskar Sundqvist and Lucas Raymond scored for Detroit. Dmitry Orlov netted the game-winner for Washington. Ville Husso made 38 saves.

The Wings host the Lightning tomorrow. Coverage will start at 6:45 on 99.3 The Lift.

Detroit has sent forward Givani Smith to the Panthers as part of a three-team deal. In exchange, the Wings get journeyman forward Danny O’Regan from the Ducks. O’Regan will report to the Grand Rapids Griffins.

NBA

The Pistons host the Jazz this evening. Coverage will begin at 6:35 on 99.3 The Lift.

NFL

In last night’s contest, the Packers shut down the Rams 24-12. Aaron Jones ran for 90 yards, and the Green Bay defense held Los Angeles to just 156 yards of total offense.
