High School

In high school football last night…
 • Houghton outscored Westwood 34-16. Jay Halonen scored on runs of 37 and 40 yards, and a 35-yard pass play. Wyatt Jenkins scored on a 30-yard pass play, and a one-yard run.
• Calumet fell to Menominee 44-0. The Maroons scored on their first six possessions. Landan Bardowski ran for 114 yards and three touchdowns. Hear the replay of the broadcast here.
 • Hancock lost at Gladstone 45-16. All of the Braves’ scoring came in the first half. Bryce Hanner connected with Zach Geborkoff for a 50-yard touchdown pass for the Bulldogs, and Cody Turner scored on a five-yard run.
 • L’Anse fell to Bark River-Harris 40-0.
 • North Central overpowered Ontonagon 70-34. The Jets rolled up 562 yards on the ground, with Luke Gorzinski running for 297 yards. It was the 41st consecutive win for North Central.

Today…
• Lake Linden-Hubbell entertains Stephenson for Parents Day. Kickoff is at 1:30 at Warner Field.

In high school volleyball last night…
• Hancock stopped Dollar Bay-Tamarack City 3-0 (25-18, 25-15, 25-9).

The Houghton soccer team plays at Sault Ste. Marie today.

College Volleyball

The Michigan Tech volleyball team stunned previously unbeaten Grand Valley State 3-0 (25-21, 25-19, 25-18) last evening. Kaycee Meiners led the Huskies with 11 kills. Tech will host Davenport University today at 3:00.

The Northern volleyball squad outlasted Davenport 3-2 (25-19, 25-13, 21-25, 20-25, 15-9) last night, and entertain Grand Valley today.

College Soccer

The Michigan Tech soccer team blanked Purdue Northwest 2-0 yesterday. Grace Hoeppner and Cassie Bonifas scored for the Huskies. Gracie VanLangevelde earned the win in net. Tech will host Parkside tomorrow at noon.

The Northern women’s soccer team played Parkside to a 1-1 draw yesterday, and entertain Purdue Northwest tomorrow. The Northern men’s team scored in the 86th minute to edge Davenport 1-0 yesterday. They’ll host Saginaw Valley State tomorrow.

College Football

The Michigan Tech football team plays at Wisconsin-Platteville today at 2:00.

The Northern football team entertains Wisconsin-LaCrosse today.

MLB

The Tigers ripped the Angels 11-2 last night, putting the game away with seven runs in the eighth inning. Tarik Skubal allowed a run on three hits over seven strong innings. Jake Rogers had three hits including a home run, and scored three times. Javier Báez homered, and drove in four runs.

The Tigers visit the Angels again tonight. Sawyer Gipson-Long will start against Tyler Anderson. Coverage will begin at 8:45 on 99.3 The Lift.

Carlos Santana hit two home runs, as the Brewers dispatched the Nationals 5-3 last evening. Wade Miley gave up all three Washington runs in the first inning, then pitched into the sixth to earn the win.

The Brewers entertain the Nationals tonight. Corbin Burnes will start against Trevor Williams.

The Cubs lost, so Milwaukee’s lead in the National League Central Division swells to five-and-a-half games over Chicago.

Twilight League Baseball

The Copper Country Twilight Baseball League champions Garnet Garage will face Marquette tomorrow at 2:00 in an interleague championship game at the Stanton Field.

NFL

The Lions host the Seahawks in a 1:00 game tomorrow on 99.3 The Lift.

The Packers visit the Falcons in a 1:00 contest tomorrow. Running back Aaron Jones is among four players listed as “questionable” for the game.
