MLB

Jake Rogers had two hits and drove in three runs, as the Tigers stopped the Rays 4-2 Saturday. Akil Baddoo homered. Tarik Skubal pitched into the sixth, and gave up a run on two hits to earn the win.

The Tigers host the Rays again this afternoon. Matt Manning will pitch against Tyler Glasnow. Coverage will begin at 1:15 on 99.3 The Lift.

Detroit has optioned reliever Trey Wingenter to Toledo, to open a roster space for Andrew Vasquez, whom they claimed off waivers from the Phillies Friday.

Blake Perkins singled home Victor Caratini in the bottom of the 10th, and the Brewers shaded the Pirates 3-2. Perkins had scored the tying run in a Sal Frelick single in the bottom of the ninth to extend the game. Starter Corbin Burnes gave up two runs over six strong innings. Devin Williams got the win in relief.

The Brewers entertain the Pirates again this afternoon. Brandon Woodruff will return from the injured list to start against Johan Oviedo.

The Reds lost to the Nationals again, so Milwaukee now holds a one-and-a-half-game lead in the National League Central Division.

With Woodruff’s return, the Brewers have sent Colin Rea down to Nashville, and brought up reliever Clayton Andrews.

Milwaukee has confirmed that there will be no comeback for reliever Justin Wilson this season. After recovering from Tommy John ligament replacement surgery, Wilson was warming up July 28th for his first appearance of the season when he suffered a lat strain. He’ll be shut down for the rest of the year.
