High School
Hancock Hockey LogoIn high school hockey last night, Hancock earned its 11th straight win with a 6-3 victory over Calumet. The Copper Kings dominated the game early, and led 2-0 after the first period. The Bulldogs roared back with four goals in the second period – three by Ted Randell, who also earned an assist in the game. Cory Tourtillot, Brody Budweg and Alex Nordstrom also scored for Hancock. Dawson Kero stopped 21 shots for the win. Rory Anderson had a goal and two assists for Calumet. Robert Erkkila and Ed Beiring also scored. Ian Carroll made 36 saves while taking the loss.

All of last night’s boys basketball games were canceled because of the weather.
– Hancock at Bessemer – no make-up date provided.
– Houghton at Ishpeming – no makeup date has been provided.
– The Jeffers game at Republic-Michigamme will be played on February 24th.
– The Chassell game at Wakefield-Marenisco will be made up tomorrow.
– The Baraga at L’Anse game will be played tonight.

– The Houghton swim meet against Ishpeming was postponed until February 11th.

The Finlandia women’s basketball team plays at Mount Mary University tonight.

NHL
The Detroit Red Wings return from the all-star break tonight with a home game against the Tampa Bay Lightning. Face-off is at 8:00 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3, WCCY.

NBA
The Detroit Pistons play at Boston tonight.
