MLB

The Tigers broke their four-game losing streak with a 4-2 victory over the Brewers last night. Matthew Boyd gave up two runs over five innings to earn the win for Detroit. Nick Maton slugged a three-run homer. Colin Rae allowed four runs over five frames for Milwaukee, and took the loss. William Contreras and Mike Brosseau homered.

The Tigers visit the Brewers again tonight. Spencer Turnbull will start against Eric Lauer. Coverage will begin at 7:15 on 99.3 The Lift.

The two pitchers who gave up nine runs in the eighth inning of Milwaukee’s loss to Boston Sunday have been removed from the Brewers’ bullpen. Matt Bush has been placed on the injured list with rotator cuff tendinitis. Javy Guerra has been released. Jake Cousins and Alex Claudio have been brought up.

NFL

The long-anticipated trade of former Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers to the Jets finally came together yesterday. The Packers also gave New York their first-round draft pick this year – number 15 overall – and a fifth-round pick. Green Bay receives the Jets’ first-round selection this year – number 13 overall – and New York’s second-round and sixth-round picks. Based on Rodger’s performance with the Jets this season, Green Bay could also receive a second-round pick in the 2024 draft.

The 2023 draft begins Thursday night.
