Harter’s Carquest Earns Walk-Off Slow Pitch Win – Thursday Sports Update

The Detroit Tigers return to action at Kansas City tomorrow night, following the All-Star break. Pregame coverage will start at 7:50 on 99.3 The Lift.

Tigers reliever Austin Adams has cleared waivers, after having been designated for assignment. He’s been assigned to Toledo.

The Milwaukee Brewers will resume play tomorrow evening at home against the San Francisco Giants. 

Slow Pitch Softball

In Copper Country Slow Pitch Softball League play last night…
– Bucko’s/Labatt’s v Auto Pro/ThermoAnalytics, and v Luigi’s – no reports.
– Lake Superior Design v Pat’s Foods/Bucko’s – no report.
– Harter’s Carquest scored three runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to edge Coca Cola/Monte Carlo 12-11.
– Koppers v Downtowner Two, and v A and S Industrial – no reports.

NHL

The Detroit Red Wings have announced this year’s training camp dates. Prospects will report to Traverse City September 6th. Full camp will run from September 13th through 16th, ahead of their preseason opener September 17th against the Chicago Blackhawks. The Wings will come to the Copper Country September 26th to face the Stanley Cup champion Saint Louis Blues in the Kraft Hockeyville game at the Calumet Colosseum. The Finlandia University men’s soccer team has added a new player. Isaac Llanas is a goalkeeper from Houston, Texas.

Running

The Hero Hustle 5k will be held Saturday. Onsite registration will open at 8:30 at East Houghton Waterfront Park. The event is sponsored by the CMU Physical Therapy Student Organization at Michigan Tech. Proceeds will be donated to the Michigan Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
