High School

In high school hockey tonight…
• Calumet hosts Hancock in game one of the Copper Island Classic. The total-goals series was postponed from its original November dates because of illness on the Bulldogs team. Tonight’s contest starts at 7:00 at the Colosseum, with coverage at 6:40 on the Voice of the Copper Kings, KBear 102.3. Tomorrow night’s contest will face off at 5:00, with coverage beginning at 4:40 on KBear 102.3.

In boys basketball last night…
• Baraga outscored L’Anse 68-46.

In girls’ play last evening…
• The L’Anse v Baraga girls games were postponed because of illness. The JV and varsity contests will be made up Tuesday night at Baraga.
• Houghton got past Gladstone 47-40.
• Dollar Bay-Tamarack City downed West Iron County 48-42.

On the girls schedule tonight…
• Lake Linden-Hubbell plays at Chassell in a make-up game from December 5th.

College Basketball

The Finlandia men’s team lost 108-59 at Kalamazoo College last night. The Lions trailed by just five points midway through the game, after the the teams combined to score 99 points in the first half. The Hornets then held Finlandia to just 12 points in the second half. Danny Zuchak led the Lions with 17 points. The Lions will play at Olivet College today at noon.

College Softball

The Finlandia University softball team has added a new recruit. Tammy Perrotta is a pitcher and infielder at Harper Creek High School near Battle Creek.

NHL

The Red Wings snapped their six-game losing streak with a 7-4 victory over the Lightning last night. Dylan Larkin and Michael Rasmussen each scored twice. Ville Husso made 34 saves.

The Wings visit the Senators tomorrow night. Coverage will start at 6:45 on 99.3 The Lift.

NBA

The Pistons suffered their fourth straight loss, 113-93 to the 76ers last night. Jaden Ivey led Detroit with 18 points.

The Pistons visit the Hawks tomorrow night.

NFL

In tonight’s NFL game, the Jets host the Jaguars. Coverage begins at 7:30 on 99.3 The Lift.

The Lions and Packers each placed just one player on the NFC Pro Bowl team yesterday. Center Frank Ragnow will represent Detroit, and cornerback Jaire Alexander will represent Green Bay.

MLB

The Tigers have claimed catcher Mario Feliciano off waivers from the Brewers. Feliciano was once considered a top prospect in the Milwaukee system, but was designated for assignment to make space on the 40-man roster when the Brewers obtained infielder Owen Miller from the Guardians.
