In boys high school basketball last night, Houghton defeated Gwinn 50-26. Sean Hyslop scored 12 for the Gremlins.

NFL
Former Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi has reportedly been rehired as quarterbacks coach by the New Orleans Saints. Lombardi spent five seasons in New Orleans before moving to Detroit. His complex offense didn’t work well in the Motor City, and he was fired in the middle of his second season.

MLB
Detroit Tigers Circle LogoAll four Detroit Tigers who are eligible for salary arbitration filed yesterday. The list includes outfielder J.D. Martinez, shortstop Jose Iglesias, infielder Andrew Romine, and reliever Justin Wilson, who was acquired by trade from the Yankees a couple of month ago. Wilson’s name has already been removed from the list – he’s agreed to a one-and-a-half million dollar deal for this season.

Three Milwaukee Brewers filed for arbitration – shortstop Jean Segura, and pitchers Wily Peralta and Will Smith.

The Calumet Copper Kings junior varsity hockey team will serve a pancake breakfast Saturday from 8:00 until noon at the Colosseum. The cost is $5.00 – children ages six and under eat free. Tickets are available from JV hockey players, and at the door.
