HS Boys Hoops Tourney Opens Tonight (Maybe) – Monday Sports Wrap

On the girls high school basketball schedule tonight, Dollar Bay-Tamarack City will host Watersmeet, in a game that was rescheduled from January. The varsity game will start time at 5:00, so fans can attend boys district basketball games if they wish.

The boys hoops tournament begins tonight…

  • In the Division Two District at Kingsford, Houghton faces Kingsford at 6:00 Eastern Time. Pregame coverage will begin around 5:40 on 99.3 The Lift and 993TheLift.com.
  • In the Division Three District at Norway, L’Anse takes on Norway at 7:00 Eastern Time. Pregame coverage will start around 6:40 on KBear 102.3 and KBear102.com.
  • In the Division Four District at Chassell, the Panthers will host Lake Linden-Hubbell at 7:00.
  • In the Division Four District at Ewen-Trout Creek, Jeffers will face Watersmeet at 6:00, and Ewen-Trout Creek will meet Ontonagon at 7:30.

The hockey playoffs begin tomorrow. Jeffers faces Houghton at 6:00, and Calumet takes on Hancock at 8:00. Our coverage from the John MacInnes Student Ice Arena will begin at 5:35 on KBear 102.3 and KBear102.com.

Finlandia

At the annual Dome Tournament in Marquette Sunday, the Finlandia University softball team defeated the College of Saint Scholastica 6-5, and lost to Wisconsin-Superior 8-7.

The Detroit Red Wings couldn’t hold a 3-1 lead, and fell 5-3 to the San Jose Sharks yesterday. Darren Helm, Gustav Nyquist and Mike Green scored for Detroit. Jonathan Bernier took the loss in net. The Detroit Tigers’ late comeback fell short, and they lost to the Philadelphia Phillies 10-6 yesterday. Ronny Rodriguez and Willi Castro homered for Detroit. The Milwaukee Brewers overpowered the Texas Rangers 10-1 yesterday. Hernán Pérez homered for the Crew. The Brewers will face the Los Angeles Angels today.
