HS Hockey and Hoops Cleared to Play – Friday Sports Wrap

High School

The Houghton High School swim team competes at Sault Ste. Marie tomorrow.

High school basketball and hockey teams can begin competing next week. The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services modified its Epidemic Order yesterday to allow full practices and competition to begin on Monday. All participants must wear face coverings at all times. The Michigan High School Athletic Association says there may be an option for face coverings to be removed during games if players have tested negative for COVID-19 that day. Details about that program have not been released.

For basketball, both boys and girls district tournaments will begin the week of March 22nd, with finals April 9th and 10th. Hockey regionals will take place the week of March 15th, with the finals March 27th.

See more information from the MHSAA here.
