HS Volleyball Tourney Opens Tonight – Monday Sports Wrap

High School
The Calumet Copper Kings will face Traverse City St. Francis Saturday at 1:00 in the Division Six district football final. The game will be played at Thirlby Field in Traverse City. Pregame coverage will begin at 12:35 on KBear 102.3 and KBear102.com. St. Francis defeated Elk Rapids 56-17 in their district semifinal Saturday. Calumet advanced with a 6-0 victory over Westwood Friday night.

The high school volleyball tournament opens tonight…
– Division Four District 98, Lake Linden-Hubbell plays at Hancock at 7:00; Dollar Bay-Tamarack City plays at L’Anse at 7:00.
– Division Four District 97 at Watersmeet, Wakefield-Marenisco faces Ontonagon at 5:45; Watersmeet plays Bessemer at 7:15 Eastern Time.
– Division Three District 65, Calumet plays at Ironwood.
– Division Two District District 33, Houghton hosts Menominee at 7:00.

MLB
The Boston Red Sox won the World Series with a 5-1 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers last night. The Sox took the Fall Classic four games to one.

NBA
The Detroit Pistons will face the Celtics in Boston tomorrow night.

NHL
The Detroit Red Wings scored three goals in the third period, and defeated the Dallas Stars 4-2 yesterday. Anthony Mantha, Tyler Bertuzzi, and Jonathan Ericsson found the net for Detroit, and Justin Abdelkader added an empty-netter. Jonathan Bernier made 28 saves. The Wings visit the Columbus Blue Jackets tomorrow. Pregame begins at 6:40 on 99.3 The Lift.

NFL
The Seattle Seahawks scored three touchdowns in the second quarter, and defeated the Detroit Lions 28-14 yesterday. The Lions rushed for just 34 yards.

The Los Angeles Rams kicked a late field goal to edge the Green Bay Packers 29-27.

In last night’s game, the Minnesota Viking lost 30-20 to the New Orleans Saints.
