Lake Linden Hubbell Logo– Calumet edged Jeffers 50-46 in overtime.
– Houghton outscored Ewen-Trout Creek 76-58.
– Lake Linden-Hubbell remained unbeaten, with an 87-60 victory over Ontonagon.
– L’Anse stopped Hancock 61-39.
– Chassell fell to Republic-Michigamme 62-51.
– Baraga  defeated Dollar Bay 55-43.

MTU Takes Winter Carnival Opener
The fifth-ranked Michigan Tech hockey team opened the annual Winter Carnival series with a 3-1 victory over Bemidji State Friday night. Riley Sweeney opened the scoring with his first goal of the season in the first period. Dylan Steman scored the game-winner in the third period, and Tanner Kero added a late empty-netter. Those teams play again tonight at 5:07 at MacInnes Arena.

NMU Hockey Falls at Duluth
The Northern Michigan University hockey team lost a 3-1 decision at seventh-ranked Minnesota-Duluth Friday night. Those teams play again tonight.

Both Northern Michigan basketball play at Ferris State today.

Finlandia Lions New LogoThe Finlandia men’s hockey team visits Marian University tonight and tomorrow afternoon. The women’s hockey team skates at Concordia-Wisconsin today, and Marian University tomorrow afternoon.

Both Finlandia basketball teams travel to Rochester, Michigan to take on Alfred State College today.

The Calumet Wolverines lost 7-4 at Mosinee Friday night, and visit the Monroe Blues tonight. The Portage Lake Pioneers have the weekend off.

NHL – Red Wings Visit Coyotes
The Detroit Red Wings skate at Phoenix tonight. Faceoff is at 8:00 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3 WCCY.

NBA – Pistons Down Nuggets
The Pistons defeated the Nuggets 98-88 Friday night. Greg Monroe led Detroit with 21 points and a career-best 21 rebounds. D.J. Augustin scored 22 for the Pistons. The Pistons host the Timberwolves tomorrow night Tip-off is at 6:00 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3 WCCY.

Bigfoot Snowshoe Event Today
The annual Bigfoot Snowshoe Event will be held today as part of Winter Carnival on the Tech Trails. Courses of approximately 2k and 4k are available. For full details and sign-up information, click here.

Barneløpet Set for Sunday
The annual Barneløpet children’s Nordic ski event will be held on the Maasto Hiihto trails tomorrow. Kids ages three through 17 are invited to participate. Register at 1:00 at the Chalet in Hancock.
