Tigers Lose to Twins Again
Kyle Lobstein pitched four shutout innings last night, but the Twins broke through for six runs in the fifth inning, and routed the Tigers 12-3. Rajai Davis left the game in the second inning with a groin muscle strain. He’ll be evaluated today.

The American League Central Division title will likely be decided today, in the final games of the regular season. The Royals lost last night, so Detroit leads Kansas City by one game. If Detroit beats Minnesota today, they clinch the crown. If Kansas City loses, Detroit clinches the title, no matter what the Tigers do. If Kansas City wins and Detroit loses, the two teams will play a one-game tiebreaker in Detroit to determine which team is the division champion. The loser of that game would inherit the top wild card playoff position.

The Tigers will start David Price in today’s game Kyle Gibson will pitch for the Twins. Hear the first pitch at 1:08 on FM 99.3 and AM 1400, WCCY.

Brewers Edge Cubs
Brewers LogoWily Peralta struck out a career-best 13 batters, as the Brewers shaded the Cubs 2-1 last night. The win guaranteed that Milwaukee will finish the season with a winning record, despite having dropped 21 of the previous 29 games.

The Brewers end their season against the Cubs this afternoon. Mike Fiers will pitch against former Tiger Jacob Turner.

NFL
The Lions face the Jets in New York today. The Packers take on the Bears in Chicago. Both the Lions and the Packers’ games begin at 1:00.

NHL – Wings Fall to Bruins
Ville Leino’s goal late in the third period broke a 1-1 tie, and the Detroit Red Wings lost to the Bruins 3-1 in NHL preseason play. The Wings host the Maple Leafs Monday night. We will cover the Red Wings again this season on FM 99.3 and AM 1400 WCCY.

Mead’s Field Goal Wins Miner’s Cup
In college football, Garrett Mead’s 39-yard field goal as time expired gave Michigan Tech a 34-31 win at Northern Michigan Saturday night. Tech led 21-7 at halftime, but the Wildcats came back. They took advantage of a muffed punt to tie the game… then took the lead when a bad punt snap resulted in a safety. Tech regrouped, and quarterback Tyler Scarlett eventually led a nine-play drive that set up the winning kick. Scarlett completed 22-of-34 passes for 302 yards and a touchdown. It’s the 10th time the Huskies have won the Miner’s Cup since the trophy was introduced 13 years ago.
