Jets Earn Hockey Win, Gremlins Fall – Wednesday Sports Wrap

High School
In high school hockey last night…
– Marquette scored three goals in the first period, then held on to edge Houghton 3-2. Dawson McKay and Patrick Donnelly scored for the Gremlins.
– Jeffers outskated L’Anse 7-2. Two goals by Foster Miller gave the Purple Hornets an early lead, but the Jets scored the final six goals of the game to seal the victory. Jackson Rocchi and Clay Larson each scored twice for the Jets. Ethan Therrian, Kellen Klein and Drew Harris each earned their first varsity goals. Craig Mantila stopped 41 shots in net for L’Anse, while Noah Nettell saved nine for Jeffers.

Finlandia
The Finlandia University women’s basketball team plays at Concordia-Moorhead tonight.

MTU
The Michigan Tech men’s basketball team hosts Minnesota-Duluth tonight. Tip-off is at 6:00 at the SDC.

The Tech women’s basketball team has jumped to 10th in the nation in the latest Women’s Basketball Coaches Association Division II Poll. The unbeaten Huskies were ranked 21st in the preseason poll.

NHL
The Detroit Red Wings entertain the Edmonton Oilers tonight. Pregame coverage begins at 6:40 on 99.3 The Lift.

NBA
The Detroit Pistons will play at Oklahoma City Friday night.

MLB
Former Detroit Tigers manager Brad Ausmus has a new job. Ausmus will become special assistant to Los Angeles Angels general manager Billy Eppler.

Meanwhile, baseball spring training schedules have been released. The Tigers will begin their Grapefruit League campaign against the New York Yankees three months from tomorrow.

Our Thanksgiving Day NFL broadcast schedule kicks off tomorrow at 12:30 when the Detroit Lions host the Minnesota Vikings. The Dallas Cowboys entertain the Los Angeles Rams in the late afternoon game, and the New York Giants play at Washington in the evening match. Hear all three games on 99.3 The Lift.
