Jets Fall to Eskymos – Sunday Sports Wrap

In hockey yesterday afternoon, Escanaba broke open a tie game with two goals in the third period, and defeated Jeffers 5-3. Jonathan Mantila scored twice for the Jets.

Finlandia
The Finlandia University women’s basketball team fell to to Franklin College 65-51 yesterday afternoon at the DePauw Classic in Indiana. Katie Lundeen and Mariah Austin each scored 12 points for the Lions, who were held to just three points in the third period.

MTU
The Michigan Tech hockey team will take on the University of Michigan in the opening round of the Great Lakes Invitational Tournament this afternoon at 1:00 in Detroit. Michigan State University will face Lake Superior State University in the other semifinal at 4:00. The consolation and championship games will be played tomorrow.

GLHL
The Calumet Wolverines defeated the Portage Lake Pioneers 5-2 at the Colosseum last night. Eric Bausano, Matt Yeo, Jeff Erkkila, Maxx Fredrickson and Brendan Jacques scored for the Wolverines. Bausano and Erkkila each added two assists. Ryan Patrick got the win in net.

NHL
The Detroit Red Wings’ struggles continued last night with a 5-1 loss to the Dallas Stars. Dylan Larkin’s third-period goal was Detroit’s only score. Jonathan Bernier made 37 saves in the loss. The Wings have won only four of the 15 games they’ve played in December. They’ll host the Florida Panthers tomorrow night. Coverage begins at 7:10 on 99.3 The Lift.

The Detroit Pistons visit the Orlando Magic this afternoon.

NFL
The Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers will wrap up their 2018 NFL seasons against each other at Lambeau Field in a 1:00 game today. Hear the broadcast on 99.3 The Lift.
