MLB
The Cleveland Indians jumped on Michael Fulmer early, and defeated the Detroit Tigers  11-4 Friday night. Fulmer was touched for two runs in the first, two more in the second, and two more in the fifth. The Tigers closed the gap when Justin Upton smacked a three-run homer in the sixth – his second of the game – but the Indians added single runs off Shane Greene in the sixth and Bruce Rondon in the seventh; then roughed up Joe Mantiply and Mark Lowe for three in the eighth to put the game away.

The Tigers continue that series in Cleveland this afternoon. Justin Verlander will start against Carlos Carrasco. Hear the first pitch at 4:10 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3, WCCY.

The Indians now lead the Tigers by seven games in the American League Central Division. Any combination of nine Cleveland wins or Detroit losses clinches the division title for the Indians. Toronto and Baltimore both won, so the Tigers trail both of those teams by three games in the race for the final American League wild card playoff berth.
