In high school hockey last night… Calumet fell to Marquette 2-1 in overtime. Marquette junior forward Tanner Carriere was credited with the game winner 2:06 into the extra period, when his cross-ice pass deflected off the skate of a Copper King and found the net. Rory Anderson scored for Calumet.

In boys’ high school basketball… Ewen-Trout Creek lost to Carney-Nadeau 71-32.

MTU – Kero Honored by WCHA
Michigan Tech hockey forward Tanner Kero has been named the WCHA Player of the Week. In a week when many conference teams were idle, the Hancock native scored a goal and assisted on two others in the Huskies’ two games at the Great Lakes Invitational Tournament. Kero leads the Huskies with 21 points and 15 assists this season.

Finlandia
The Finlandia University men’s basketball team will host Calvin College this afternoon. Tip-off is at 1:00 at the Paavo Nurmi Center.

NHL – Red Wings Entertain Devils
The Red Wings host the Devils tonight. Faceoff is at 7:30 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3 WCCY.

The Wings have placed forward Jakub Kindl on short-term injured reserve with a sprained elbow. Xavier Ouellet has been called up from Grand Rapids to fill in.

NBA – Pistons Bounce Magic
The “new look” Pistons continue to look very good, as they trounced the Magic 109-86 last night. Jodie Meeks turned in his best game in a Detroit uniform, coming off the bench to score 34 points. He connected on nine three-point shots. Andre Drummond added 17 points and 22 rebounds. Since Josh Smith was released, Detroit has won three in a row, by an average margin of 19 points. The Pistons visit the Knicks Friday night. Tip-off is at 7:30 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3 WCCY.

NFL – Suh Will Play
Detroit Lions’ defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh will play in Sunday’s playoff game against the Cowboys. Suh had been suspended for one game after stepping on Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers’ ankle during last Sunday’s loss. He appealed the decision, and won. Hear all four of this weekend’s NFL games on AM 1400 and FM 99.3 WCCY.
