Calumet will host Westwood in the opening round of the high school football playoffs this coming weekend. The undefeated Copper Kings are seeded second in District One of Division Six. In other match-ups of regional interest, unbeaten Ishpeming will host Gwinn in a Division Eight opener, and Forest Park will begin play in Eight-man Division Two at North Central.

The Michigan Tech soccer team blanked Ashland University 2-0 yesterday. Leah Goldman and Jesse Jacobusse scored late in the game, as the Huskies won their fourth straight.
