Lake Linden Hubbell LogoThe Lake Linden-Hubbell football team will compete in the Mid-Eastern Conference next season. With Forest Park’s move to the eight-man division, the Great Western Conference will end. Of its three remaining teams, the Lakes and the Gogebic Miners have been accepted into the Mid-Eastern Conference, although their proposed schedules have yet to be approved. The conference will stretch 250 miles from Newberry to Bessemer, which will necessitate some neutral site games. Hurley will compete in the WestPAC next season.

Finlandia
Both Finlandia soccer teams host Northland College today. The women’s contest begins at 3:30, and the men’s game at 6:00.

NHL
The Detroit Red Wings entertain the Tampa Bay Lightning tonight. Jimmy Howard will start in goal. Darren Helm may be ready to play in his first game since he was hurt in a collision early in training camp. Faceoff is at 7:30 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3 WCCY.

NBA
The Detroit Pistons continue their preseason schedule tonight at Indianapolis.

MLB
In the American League Divisional Series yesterday, the Royals beat the Astros 9-6. The Blue Jays defeated the Rangers 8-4. Each of those series is tied at two wins per team, and will be decided tomorrow.

In the National League Divisional Series, the Cubs got past the Cardinals 8-6, and the Mets outslugged the Dodgers 13-7. Both of those series continue today, with Chicago and New York holding 2-1 leads.

NFL
In last night’s NFL game, Le’Veon Bell pushed across the goal line as time expired, and the Pittsburgh Steelers came from behind to beat the San Diego Chargers 24-20.
