The season schedules for boys and girls high school basketball will switch next season. Typically, the girls open a week before the boys. Next year, the boys will open first. The decision was made by the Michigan High School Athletic Association because of a potential conflict at Breslin Arena, where the boys tournament semifinals and championship games are played. The girls tournament has been relocated to Calvin College in Grand Rapids beginning this season. The MHSAA hopes to return to the traditional schedule for the 2019-2020 season.

The Finlandia University women’s basketball team plays at Webster University tonight.

The Lions men’s team visits Wisconsin-Oshkosh.

Finlandia has introduced a couple of players who will be enrolling next fall. MacKenzie Cunningham from Ovid, Michigan, will join the women’s basketball team. Kirsten L’Esperance from Brighton, Michigan, will play for the women’s soccer team.

Michigan Tech’s Kyle Monroe has been named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference North Division Men’s Basketball Player of the Week. Monroe totaled 71 points in the Huskies’ wins over Northwood and Saginaw Valley State.

Cold shooting sank the Detroit Pistons last night in a 96-93 loss to the San Antonio Spurs. Reggie Jackson led Detroit with 27 points, and Andre Drummond snared 15 rebounds. The Pistons have lost three in a row, and visit the Bucks in Milwaukee tomorrow night. Tip-off is at 8:00 on 99.3 The Lift.

The Detroit Red Wings’ winless streak is at seven. They host the Winnipeg Jets tonight. Pregame coverage will begin at 7:10 on 99.3 The Lift.

The Wings have traded forward Scott Wilson to the Buffalo Sabres for a 2019 fifth-round draft pick. Wilson was acquired from the Pittsburgh Penguins at the start of the season, in exchange for Riley Sheahan.
