The season schedules for boys and girls high school basketball will switch next season. Typically, the girls open a week before the boys. Next year, the boys will open first. The decision was made by the Michigan High School Athletic Association because of a potential conflict at Breslin Arena, where the boys tournament semifinals and championship games are played. The girls tournament has been relocated to Calvin College in Grand Rapids beginning this season. The MHSAA hopes to return to the traditional schedule for the 2019-2020 season.
