Lions Open Turkey Day NFL Slate – Thursday Sports Wrap

WCHA

Yet another Western Collegiate Hockey Association team has been sidelined because of positive COVID-19 tests.

Ferris State University has canceled this weekend’s games against Lake Superior State University because of a coronavirus breakout. The Lakers will play Division Three Adrian College, instead.

Other WCHA teams shut down by the coronavirus include Northern Michigan University. The Wildcats had to cancel last night’s season opener against LSSU, and will not play this weekend’s scheduled rivalry series against Michigan Tech.

Minnesota State also remains off the ice because of positive tests, and will not play Bemidji State this weekend.

NFL

The Lions will host the Texans in the first of today’s Thanksgiving NFL games. Kickoff is at 12:30 on 99.3 the Lift.

Detroit receivers Kenny Golladay and Danny Amendola will miss the game – both are battling hip injuries. Running back D’Andre Swift is questionable, as he continues to navigate the NFL’s concussion protocol. Injuries will also leave Detroit without cornerbacks Jeff Okudah and Mike Ford, defensive end Austin Bryant, and defensive lineman Da’Shawn Hand. The Lions added tackle Halapoulivaati Vaitai to the injured reserve list, because of a foot problem. They promoted receiver Mohamad Sanu to the 53-man roster.

Houston’s receiving corps will also be depleted. Randall Cobb and Kenny Stills are out, along with defensive tackle P.J. Hall, fullback Cullen Gillaspia, and third-string quarterback Josh McCown.

The Cowboys entertain Washington in the 4:30 contest. The Steelers host the Ravens in tonight’s game, which will also be aired on 99.3 The Lift.

Ahead of Sunday’s game against the Bears, the Packers have placed defensive lineman Montravius Adams and linebacker James Burgess on injured reserve.
