NHL

The Red Wings scored three third-period goals, and defeated the Maple Leafs 4-2 last night. Dylan Larkin, Daniel Sprong, Andrew Copp and Lucas Raymond found the net, with Copp’s game-winner coming with just 100 seconds remaining in regulation, and Raymond’s a late empty-netter. James Reimer stopped 28 shots.

The Wings visit the Panthers Wednesday. Coverage will begin at 6:45 on 99.3 The Lift.

Patrick Kane left last night’s game in the first period with a lower body injury. There’s no work as to his status.

NBA

The Pistons visit the Wizards for a Martin Luther King, Jr. Day matinee this afternoon.

Detroit has begun shuffling the deck chairs on its sinking ship. Yesterday, they acquired veteran big men Danilo Gallinari and Mike Muscala from the Wizards. Both have struggled this season, and both are under contracts that expire at the end of the season. In exchange, Washington gets center Marvin Bagley III, forward Isaiah Livers and second-round draft picks in 2025 and 2026. Both Bagley and Livers have seen limited playing time this year. The deal will free up some salary cap space for the Pistons.

NFL

In the NFL playoffs yesterday…
• The Packers opened up a 20-point halftime lead, and upended the Cowboys 48-32. Jordan Love threw three touchdown passes, and Aaron Jones ran for three scores.
• The Lions pulled out a tense 24-23 victory over the Rams. David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs rushed for first-quarter touchdowns. Jared Goff hit Sam LaPorta with a scoring pass in the second quarter. Neither team scored a touchdown in the second half, with Detroit kicking one field goal, and Los Angeles two. Goff connected with Amon-Ra St. Brown for a first down after the two-minute warning to enable the Lions to run out the clock.

Today…
• The Bills host the Steelers in a 4:30 contest that was rescheduled from yesterday because of the weather. Forecasters are predicting another eight inches of lake effect snow by game time, with temperatures in the upper teens and brisk winds.
• The Eagles visit the Buccaneers for an 8:15 game.
