College Soccer

The Michigan Tech soccer team lost 3-1 at Wisconsin-Parkside yesterday. Stephanie Yeager netted the Huskies’ only goal.

The Finlandia women’s soccer team fell 4-0 at St. Scholastica yesterday.

The Finlandia men’s soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision at Blackburn College yesterday. Kevin Amaro scored for the Lions.

MLB

The Tigers collected just four hits in a 4-0 loss to the Royals yesterday. Tyler Alexander gave up all four runs over five innings. It was Detroit’s 20th shutout this season – a new team record.

The Tigers host the Astros tonight. Eduardo Rodriguez will start against Framber Valdez. Because of NFL football on 99.3 The Lift, Tigers coverage will begin at 6:20 on KBear 102.3.

The Brewers grabbed an early lead, then held off the Reds 7-6 yesterday. Brandon Woodruff gave up two runs over six innings, struck out 11, and earned the win. Willy Adames homered, and Rowdy Tellez hit two out.

The Brewers are off today, and play at Saint Louis tomorrow evening.

NFL

A late surge by the Lions fell short in a 38-35 loss to the Eagles yesterday. Philadelphia scored 24 points in the second quarter and had a 17-point lead in the fourth, before Detroit scored two late touchdowns to close the gap. D’Andre Swift rushed for 144 yards and a touchdown. Jared Goff passed for two touchdowns, and threw one interception.

The Packers fell flat in a 23-7 loss to the Vikings yesterday. Aaron Rodgers was held to just 195 yards passing. A.J. Dillon scored Green Bay’s only touchdown on a short run in the third quarter.

In last night’s contest, the Buccaneers shut down the Cowboys 19-3. Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott left the game with a hand injury that will require surgery.
