Lions Romp, Tigers Fall–Monday Sports Wrap

The Detroit Tigers could not mount a second comeback victory in as many nights as they fell to the Minnesota Twins Sunday 6-4. Tigers’ starter Matthew Boyd gave up four runs on six hits and three walks in 5 2/3 innings but did not get the loss, which went to reliever Bruce Rondon, who was sent back down to Toledo following the game. Starter Michael Fulmer returns to the roster from the disabled list and will start tonight in Texas. Martin Perez will start for Texas. The Tigers open a three-game series tonight against the Rangers. Pregame coverage begins at 7:40 on 99.3 The Lift.

The Milwaukee Brewers scored three times in the first inning in route to a 7-4 victory over the Cincinnati Reds Sunday. A three-run homerun from Domingo Santana in the 5th inning sealed the victory for starter Matt Garza. Corey Knebel got the save. The Brewers have today off, and host the Pittsburgh Pirates tomorrow evening. Zach Davies will pitch against Pirates’ Ivan Nova.

 

Twilight League
The Twilight Baseball League championship series is set. Superior National Bank-Stanton advanced with an 8-5, eight-inning victory over REL-Mohawk Technologies Saturday. Stanton will face Dean Kangas State Farm in the best-of-three title set beginning tomorrow night at the Stanton field. Our pregame coverage will begin around 6:15 on KBear 102.3 and KBear102.com.

NFL
The Detroit Lions jumped out to a 17-3 halftime lead against an injury-depleted Indianapolis Colts Sunday afternoon, on their way to an easy 24-10 victory. Lions’ QB Matthew Stafford went 2 for 3 for 36 yards and one interception in his brief appearance. Backup Jake Rudock then went 13 for 21 and threw for two touchdowns. The Lions play again on Saturday against the New York Jets.
