Hockey Weekend in Calumet
Calumet Ice Kings LogoCalumet Copper Kings LogoThe Calumet Hockey Association will celebrate its annual Hockey Weekend beginning tomorrow afternoon at the Colosseum. Highlights include a pasty sale starting at 4:00 tomorrow, a pancake breakfast on Saturday from 7:30 to 12:30, and a bake sale. The Calumet varsity and jv teams will host Detroit-Jesuit tomorrow night and Saturday. We’ll broadcast both games on KBear 102.3 and KBear102.com. Remember that the Saturday game will start at 5:00. The Calumet Wolverines will host the Fox Cities Ice Dogs Saturday evening at 7:30. All kids wearing Calumet Ice Kings or Junior Kings Jerseys will get in free. MTU Hoops Hosts Ferris
Both Michigan Tech basketball teams entertain Ferris State University tonight. The women’s game starts at 5:30, and the men’s game at 7:30 at the SDC.

NMU Hoops Hosts GVSU
Both Northern Michigan basketball teams entertain Grand Valley State tonight.

Finlandia Lions New LogoFinlandia Hoops Splits with Samsons
The Finlandia basketball teams split a pair of narrow decisions at Gogebic Community College last night. The women’s team fell 69-66. Marissa Burke led the Lions with 27 points. The men’s team pulled out an 81-79 victory. Five Lions scored in double figures, led by Brandon Robinette, who tallied 18 points and grabbed eight rebounds.

NHL – Red Wings Get Blues
The Detroit Red Wings skate at St. Louis tonight. Face-off is at 8:00 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3 WCCY.

Detroit Pistons LogoNBA – Pistons Fall to Pelicans
The Detroit Pistons’ resurgence paused last night, as they lost to the Pelicans 105-94. Detroit fell behind early, and never mounted a serious challenge. Brandon Jennings led the Pistons with 19 points. The Pistons play at Indiana tomorrow night. Tip-off is at 7:00 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3 WCCY.

MLB – Four Tigers File for Arbitration
As expected, all four Tigers eligible for arbitration have officially requested a hearing. David Price, J.D. Martinez, Alfredo Simon and Al Alburquerque turned in their papers before Tuesday’s deadline. Two Milwaukee Brewers filed – outfielder Gerardo Parra, and catcher Martin Maldonado.
