The Finlandia University women’s basketball team fell to Carroll University 71-48 yesterday. Kelsie Richards led Finlandia with nine points. Julia Daavettila and Valerie Rajala each added eight.

At the GLVC-GLIAC Challenge, the NMU women’s basketball team lost to Truman State University 71-54 yesterday. The Wildcats opened their season with an 89-60 loss to Quincy Saturday night.

The Detroit Red Wings skate at Ottawa tonight.

The Detroit Pistons lost to the lowly Los Angeles Lakers 97-85 last night. Andre Drummond had 17 points and 17 rebounds for Detroit, which finished its six-game west coast trip with four straight losses. The Pistons host the Cavaliers tomorrow night. Tip-off is at 7:30 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3, WCCY.

The Detroit Lions shocked the Green Bay Packers 18-16 yesterday. It was the first win for Detroit at Lambeau Field since 1991. The Lions took an eight point lead with two minutes remaining, when Matthew Stafford hit Lance Moore with a touchdown pass. Matt Prater missed the extra point kick. The Packers closed the gap to two points with a touchdown pass from Aaron Rodgers to Justin Perillo, but their two-point conversion attempt failed. Green Bay recovered an onside kick, but Mason Crosby’s 52-yard field goal attempt as time expired was deflected and fell short.

In last night’s game, the Arizona Cardinals got past the Seattle Seahawks 39-32. Tonight, the Houston Texans visit the Cincinnati Bengals. Kickoff is at 8:30 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3, WCCY.
