The unbeaten Lake Linden-Hubbell Lakes will open the football playoffs with a rematch of their game this past weekend. The Lakes will host Forest Park Saturday afternoon at Warner Field. The Calumet Copper Kings will also face a familiar opponent when they play their first-round game Friday night at Negaunee. Hear both games on KBear 102.3 and KBear102.com.

MTU
The MTU soccer team wrapped up its home schedule with a 2-1 victory over Saginaw Valley State yesterday. Jacqueline Mielke and Lexi Herrewig scored.
Finlandia
The Finlandia men’s soccer team lost to Webster University 5-2 yesterday.
NHL
The Detroit Red Wings host the Carolina Hurricanes tomorrow evening. Faceoff is at 7:30 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3 WCCY.
NBA
The Detroit Pistons open their regular season Wednesday night at home against the Utah Jazz. Tip-off is at 7:30 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3 WCCY.
Former Detroit Pistons coach Flip Saunders has died. Saunders the club to three consecutive Eastern Conference Finals appearances a decade ago. Most recently, he was president and head coach of the Minnesota Timberwolves. Saunders had been battling cancer. He was 60 years old.
NFL
The Detroit Lions blew an early double-digit lead, and lost to the Minnesota Vikings 28-19 yesterday. Stafford finished 18 of 26 for 256 yards and two touchdowns, but was harassed by the Minnesota defense all day, and needed an x-ray of his left hand after the game.
The Green Bay Packers had the week off.
In last night’s game, the Carolina Panthers defeated the Philadelphia Eagles 27-16. In tonight’s contest, the Baltimore Ravens visit the Arizona Cardinals. Kickoff is at 8:30 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3, WCCY.
