LL-H Girls Take Regional Track Title – Friday Sports Wrap

High School
In high school softball yesterday, Houghton split a pair with L’Anse, winning the first game 14-8, and dropping the second 10-9. This afternoon, Lake Linden-Hubbell plays at L’Anse. Tomorrow, Baraga plays at L’Anse. Jeffers visits Lake Linden-Hubbell in a make-up game from April 2nd.

In baseball, Houghton plays at Rudyard tomorrow.

Lake Linden Hubbell LogoIn track and field, Lake Linden-Hubbell took the title at the Division Three Girls Regional held in Lake Linden yesterday. The Lakes finished well ahead of second place Dollar Bay. Ontonagon finished third, followed by Chassell, Bessemer, Wakefield-Marenisco, Jeffers, Ewen-Trout Creek and Watersmeet.

Bessemer won the title at the Boys Regional. The host Lakes came in second, followed by Wakefield-Marenisco, Dollar Bay, Ontonagon, Watersmeet, Jeffers, Ewen-Trout Creek and Chassell. See full results from both meets here.

The Detroit Tigers’ bats woke up yesterday, as they pounded the Minnesota Twins 13-1. Miguel Cabrera hit two home runs. Nick Castellanos and Bryan Holaday also homered. Anibal Sanchez gave up just a run on five hits over eight innings to earn the win.

The Tigers open an interleague series against the Cardinals in Saint Louis tonight. Shane Greene will start against Carlos Martinez. Hear the first pitch at 8:15 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3 WCCY.

The Milwaukee Brewers had yesterday off, and open set at New York against the Mets tonight. Kyle Lohse will pitch against Bartolo Colon.

The Brewers will be without shortstop Jean Segura for at least a couple of weeks. Segura has been placed on the disabled list with a fractured pinkie finger. Luis Sardinas has been called up from Colorado Springs to fill in.
