Local HS Hockey Season Opens Tonight

High School

The high school hockey season opens tonight in our area…
– Houghton skates at Escanaba.
– Jeffers entertains Cheboygan. Because of Tech’s home hockey game, the Jets contest will be held at Dee Stadium. Our broadcast will start at 6:40 on KBear 102.3 and KBear102.com.

Finlandia

The Finlandia University women’s basketball team plays at Lake Superior State University tonight, and at Great Lakes Christian College tomorrow.

The Lions men’s team is in Kenosha for the Carthage Classic. They’ll open against the host team tonight.

The Finlandia men’s hockey team skates at Lawrence University tonight and tomorrow. 

The FinnU women’s hockey squad hosts Saint Norbert College tonight at 7:30, and tomorrow at 4:15. We’ll broadcast tomorrow’s game beginning at 3:55 on 99.3 The Lift and 993TheLift.com.

WCHA

The Michigan Tech and Northern Michigan University hockey teams play a home-and-home series this weekend. Tonight’s contest starts at 7:07 at the John MacInnes Student Ice Arena. Tomorrow’s game begins at 6:00 in Marquette.

GLIAC

The MTU volleyball team will face Northern Michigan University tomorrow in the semifinals of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference tournament. The Huskies are seeded second, and the Wildcats sixth. The tourney is being played in Big Rapids. Host Ferris State University will play Wayne State University in the other semifinal.

The Tech women’s basketball team hosts Concordia-Saint Paul tonight at 5:00, and Minnesota-Duluth Sunday at 1:00.

The men’s basketball team entertains Minnesota-Duluth tomorrow at 2:00.

The Northern Michigan University women’s basketball team welcomes Saint Cloud State tomorrow, and Concordia-Saint Paul on Sunday.

NHL

The Detroit Red Wings again took an early lead, and, again, couldn’t hold it, as they dropped their fourth straight game 5-4 to the Columbus Blue Jackets last night. Columbus scored three goals in the final period to take the game. Tyler Bertuzzi scored twice for Detroit.

The Wings visit the New Jersey Devils tomorrow. Coverage will begin at 6:40 on 99.3 The Lift.

NBA

The Detroit Pistons host the Atlanta Hawks tonight. Coverage starts at 6:35 on 99.3 The Lift.

NFL

In last night’s NFL contest, the Houston Texans edged the Indianapolis Colts 20-17. 

The Detroit Lions visit Washington Sunday for a 1:00 game. The Green Bay Packers face the 49ers in San Francisco Sunday night. Hear both games on 99.3 The Lift.
