MLB

The Tigers couldn’t climb out of an early hole, and lost to the Rockies 8-5 last night. Colorado took command early, scoring five runs off Michael Lorenzen in the second inning. Detroit mounted a bit of a comeback, but Ezequiel Tovar’s three-run homer off Chasen Shreve put the game out of reach. Andy Ibáñez hit a late two-run homer.

The Tigers visit the Rockies again tonight. Coverage will begin at 8:45 on 99.3 The Lift.

The Brewers couldn’t hold an early lead, and lost 8-7 to the Pirates. Carlos Santana’s two-run home run off Matt Bush in the bottom of the ninth completed the Pittsburgh comeback.

The Brewers visit the Pirates again this afternoon. Corbin Burnes will start against Johan Oviedo.

NBA

Just ahead of the opening of the NBA free agent negotiating period, the Pistons obtained swingman Joe Harris from the Nets yesterday. Harris is a two-time NBA three-point shooting leader. The move was a salary dump by New Jersey. Harris is owed nearly $20 million in the final year of his contract. The Nets also gave Detroit two second-round draft picks. The Pistons gave the Nets only the league minimum $110,000 in exchange.

The Pistons then sent a second-round pick to the Wizards in exchange for point guard Monte Morris. Morris was Michigan’s “Mr. Basketball” in 2013, when he played at Flint Beecher High School. Detroit also sold the signing rights to 2021 draft pick Balša Koprivica to the Clippers for $2.1 million.
