MacInnes Classic Begins Tonight – Thursday Sports Wrap

The MacInnes Holiday Hockey Classic opens tonight. Howell faces Hancock at 6:00, and Houghton takes on Calumet at 8:00. Our pregame coverage will begin at 5:40 on KBear 102.3 and KBear102.com. We’ll broadcast the consolation game and the championship match tomorrow, beginning at 5:40.

Educators from the Houghton, Hancock and Calumet school districts are again holding a winter clothing drive in conjunction with the MacInnes tourney. New or gently used coats, hats, mittens, snowpants, scarves, boots and other winter clothing can be dropped off at the arena tonight and tomorrow night between 5:30 and 8:30. Donation boxes will be set up both inside and outside the building.

NBA
The Detroit Pistons defeated the Washington Wizards 106-95 last night. Blake Griffin scored 23 points. Langston Galloway added 22. The Pistons visit the Indiana Pacers tomorrow night. Coverage begins at 6:35 on 99.3 The Lift.

NHL
The Detroit Red Wings return to action tonight, when they skate at Pittsburgh. Coverage begins at 6:40 on 99.3 The Lift.

NFL
There is no Thursday night game on this final weekend of the regular NFL season, but please remember to have your picks in The Wolf Pro Football Challenge turned in by noon today at one of our sponsors.

The Green Bay Packers have begun interviewing candidates for their vacant head coaching position. Their first two conversations have been with former Colts head coach Chuck Pagano, and former Colts and Lions head coach Jim Caldwell. Caldwell compiled a winning record with Detroit, but was fired after not making the playoffs last season.
