Morning Sports for Sunday, May 18th:

MLB: Tigers Win Fifth Straight
Rick Porcello won his sixth straight game, as the Tigers blasted the Red Sox 6-1 on Saturday. Porcello scattered six hits over eight innings. Miguel Cabrera homered and added an rbi single for Detroit. That series wraps up at Boston tonight. Anibal Sanchez returns from the disabled list to face Jake Peavy. Hear the first pitch at 8:10 on AM 1400, WCCY.

Former Tigers’ pitcher Nate Robertson’s comeback attempt has ended. Robertson was a member of the starting rotation in the 2006 World Series season… but his career was derailed by injuries. He signed a minor league contract with Detroit this spring, and was trying to reinvent himself as a reliever. The Tigers released him on Saturday… and he indicated that he would likely retire.

Brewers Blanked by Cubs
The Cubs scored three times in the first inning, and that was all they needed in a 3-0 win over the Brewers. Former Tiger Edwin Jackson struck out 11 over seven innings for Chicago. The Brewers conclude that series against the Cubs at Wrigley Field this afternoon. Marco Estrada will pitch against Travis Wood.
