Yesterday’s Finlandia baseball doubleheader at the Illinois Institute of Technology was postponed because of bad weather.

In baseball spring training action yesterday, the Tigers game against the Pirates was rained out. The Tigers will face the Braves this afternoon. Hear the broadcast on AM 1400, WCCY.

The Tigers brought another shortstop into camp yesterday… trading utility player Steve Lombardozzi to the Orioles for veteran Alex Gonzalez. Gonzalez is 37 years old. He was released by the Brewers last season… but had a hot spring after being signed by Baltimore as a minor-league free agent.

The Tigers have signed outfielder J-D Martinez to a minor-league contract… just two days after he was released by the Astros. Martinez is expected to open the season at Toledo.

Anibal Sanchez threw 71 pitches in a minor-league game yesterday morning, and reported no soreness in his shoulder. Rajai Davis had two hits as the designated hitter in that game, and said his sore hamstring is feeling better. Both are expected to be ready for opening day… as is Don Kelley, who tweaked a hamstring during Sunday’s game.

The Brewers had a scheduled day off yesterday, and will play the Giants this afternoon.
