MTU Men Complete GLIAC/GLVC Hoops Sweep – Monday Sports Wrap

MTU/NMU
The Michigan Tech men’s basketball team finished strong, and earned an 87-80 victory over Lewis University in the GLIAC/GLVC Challenge at the SDC yesterday. Kyle Monroe powered the Huskies with 32 points and nine rebounds.

The Northern Michigan University men’s basketball team cruised past Wisconsin-Parkside at the GLIAC/GLVC Challenge 83-68 yesterday afternoon.

The NMU women’s basketball team fell 82-59 to Lewis University at the GLIAC/GLVC Challenge in Romeoville, Illinois, yesterday.

NHL
The Detroit Red Wings are off until Wednesday, when they host the Calgary Flames. Pregame coverage will begin at 7:10 on 99.3 The Lift.

NBA
The Detroit Pistons won their fifth straight game yesterday, defeating the Miami Heat 112-103. Detroit overcame an 11-point third-quarter deficit with some strong three-point shooting. Tobias Harris scored 25 points, and Andre Drummond grabbed 17 rebounds. The Pistons visit the Milwaukee Bucks Wednesday night.

NFL
The Detroit Lions trailed the lowly Cleveland Browns by seven points in the third quarter yesterday, but scored three unanswered touchdowns to claim a 38-24 victory. Matthew Stafford threw three touchdown passes. Nevin Lawson recovered a Cleveland fumble and returned it 44 yards for a score.

The Green Bay Packers defeated the Chicago Bears 23-16. Despite playing with a tight hamstring, quarterback Brett Hundley completed 18 of 25 passes for 212 yards, and engineered a late touchdown drive to seal the victory.

In last night’s contest, the New England Patriots dismantled the Denver Broncos 41-16.
