MTU Soccer Wins in OT – Monday Sports Wrap

The Lions men’s soccer team lost 3-0 to Concordia-Wisconsin yesterday.

Grace Shaw’s overtime goal earned the Tech soccer team a 3-2 victory at Minnesota-Duluth yesterday afternoon. Jesse Jacobusse scored twice in the first half for the Huskies. Gracie VanLangevelde made 10 saves, as the Bulldogs outshot the Huskies 18-10.

MLB

The Detroit Tigers collected just two hits in a 3-1 loss to the Oakland Athletics yesterday. One of the hits was a home run by Christin Stewart in the fifth inning. It was the 100th loss for the Tigers this season, with 19 games remaining.

The Tigers have today off, and host the New York Yankees tomorrow night. Pregame coverage begins at 6:15 on 99.3 The Lift. 

The Milwaukee Brewers outslugged the Chicago Cubs 8-5 yesterday. The Crew took control with a five-run fourth inning. Tyler Austin and Eric Thames homered.

The Brewers visit the Miami Marlins tonight. Jordan Lyles will start against Robert Dugger.

The Cardinals won yesterday, and now lead the National League Central Division by 4.5 games. The Brewers remain 6.5 out, and are now two games behind Chicago in the wild card race.

Milwaukee shortstop Orlando Arcia was pulled from the game in the fourth inning, and sent to the hospital for the birth of his twin baby girls. He could miss several games on paternity leave.

NFL

The Detroit Lions held an 18-point lead at the end of the third quarter, but wound up in a 27-27 tie with the Arizona Cardinals yesterday. The Cardinals kicked a field goal early in the fourth quarter, then scored two touchdowns to force extra time. Each team kicked a field goal in overtime. Matthew Stafford threw for three touchdowns.

Last night, the New England Patriots dismantled the Pittsburgh Steelers 33-3.

Tonight, the Houston Texans visit the New Orleans Saints for a 7:10 game, and the Oakland Raiders host the Denver Broncos in a 10:20 contest. Hear the broadcasts on 99.3 The Lift.
