Team Copper Country
The Team Copper Country hockey squad travels to Duluth for two games against Thunder Bay on Sunday.

The Finlandia University volleyball team begins a tournament in Ashland today. The Lions will face Concordia-Chicago this afternoon, and Bethany Lutheran College tonight. Tomorrow, they’ll take on Rockford University and Northland College.

The Finlandia football team entertains Lawrence University tomorrow at 1:00. Pregame coverage from McAfee Field will start around 12:40 on 99.3 The Lift.

Both Lions soccer teams open a tournament at Saint Mary’s University against the host Cardinals tomorrow.

The Michigan Tech volleyball team dropped the first set, but came back to defeat the University of Mary 3-1 in the opening game of the Keweenaw Classic last night. MacAulay Peterson had 13 kills, and Laura DeMarchi led the team in digs and assists. The Huskies will face Bemidji State this afternoon at 1:30, Saint Cloud State this evening at 7:30, and Minnesota-Duluth tomorrow evening.

In other action at the SDC today, Lake Superior State faces Minnesota-Duluth at 9:30, Northern Michigan plays the University of Mary at 11:30, Saint Cloud State meets Wisconsin-Parkside at 1:30, Lake Superior State plays the University of Mary at 3:30, Northern Michigan takes on Minnesota-Duluth at 5:30, and Bemidji State faces Wisconsin-Parkside at 5:30.

The MTU soccer team hosts Bemidji State this evening at 5:00. The Tech football team plays at Hillsdale tomorrow.

The Northern Michigan University football team opens its season on the road at Angelo State tomorrow night.

The Detroit Tigers had yesterday off, and open a series at Toronto tonight. Buck Farmer will start against Marcus Stroman. Pregame coverage begins at 6:45 on 99.3 The Lift.

The Milwaukee Brewers also had yesterday off, and begin a series against the division-leading Cubs in Chicago this evening. Jimmy Nelson will start against John Lackey.

The Cubs won yesterday, and the Cardinals lost. Chicago leads Milwaukee and Saint Louis by five games in the National League Central Division.

The Detroit Lions begin their NFL season at home Sunday afternoon against the Arizona Cardinals. Kickoff is at 1:00 on 99.3 The Lift. The Green Bay Packers start their season with a 4:25 game against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday.

Keweenaw Roller Girls
The Keweenaw Roller Girls skate against the Dead River Derby tonight. Action begins at 6:00 at Lakeview Arena in Marquette.
